Why a kit instead of screwing into the banister?
At the top of the stairs, the safety agency says to use only gates that screw to the wall. On a banister, that usually means drilling a finished post. The kit clamps around the post and gives your gate a wood strip to screw into instead.
What if my gate is a pressure gate?
A pressure gate pushes against the wall to stay up, and that pressure dents paint. The Wall Saver pads spread it out. The Mini Flat Bottom pads let the gate sit low on a baseboard. Pressure gates belong in doorways and at the bottom of stairs, not at the top.
What does the Floor Saver do?
It is a clear silicone strip for the underside of a stand-alone gate, so the gate does not scuff the floor where it stands.
