Safety Innovations Deluxe Door Top Lock
A lock that lives on top of the door and slides onto the frame to hold it shut. Your child sees a plain door.

Details
Rest the lock on top of a closed door and slide it toward the frame. A small peg screwed into the frame catches it, and the door stays shut. Nothing touches the handle, so lever handles and odd knobs make no difference.
Fitting takes a pencil, a drill with a 1/8-inch bit and a screwdriver. The door has to be a 1 3/8-inch interior door without weather stripping, with a gap above it at least as thick as a quarter. If the top of the door is out of your reach, the 8-inch wand in the box brings it within six inches.

Installation
- Check the door is 1 3/8 inches thick and leaves a gap at least as thick as a quarter above it.
- Rest the lock on the door and make sure it slides freely.
- Mark the center of the U-shaped slot on the frame and drill a 1/8-inch pilot hole.
- Screw in the peg, then slide the lock over it to lock and back to unlock.
