Where the facts on thesafetyinnovations.com come from, what we will not claim about a lock or a cover, and how to report a mistake.

The people who run the Safety Innovations catalog write every page on this site. Here is how a fact gets onto a page.

Facts about the products

Measurements, fit ranges, pack counts and colors come from our own product data. When two descriptions of one product disagree, we print the more careful figure. The banister kit is one example: its clamps reach 3 5/8 inches, and we tell you to plan on 3 1/2.

The photographs, the home page film and the installation videos are ours. Frames with words, arrows or measurement charts printed over them stay off the product galleries, so each picture shows the product itself or the product in a home.

What we do not claim

We describe what a product fits, what comes in the box and how it installs. We do not promise that any device makes a home safe on its own, and we make no claims about testing, certification or awards that we cannot show you.

Guides and sources

The fit guide, the room checklist and the journal cite the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the American Academy of Pediatrics. We read each source before citing it, and the date we read it is printed beside it. This is general information about childproofing hardware. It does not replace the instructions that come with your gate, furniture or wiring, and no device takes the place of watching a young child. Turn off power at the breaker before working on an outlet or switch plate.

Corrections

If a measurement, a fit range or a sentence here is wrong, write to childproof@thesafetyinnovations.com. We fix the page and the product data behind it.
